Experiencing the Heart of Herbalism A
7 Month Herbal Intensive offered by Herbalist Carolyn Cooper Kelley
Herbalist
Carolyn Cooper Kelley, MEd has extensive training and experience
in the areas of eastern and western herbology, energy medicine
and alternative and spiritual healing, nutrition, psychology
and spirituality. She has studied with many herbalists including
Rosemary Gladstar, Christopher Hobbs and David Winston. Carolyn
has over 30 years of experience as a counselor, healer, educator,
consultant and workshop leader. She is creator and owner of
Herbal Energetics, a multidimensional herbal business which
offers a variety of herbal and food products for health and
harmony. She is founder and director of Journey Within Learning
and Wellness Center where she maintains her private practice.
About the
program This experiential will include approximately
100 hours of class time. Participants will also be able to avail themselves of
the services on site at other times to observe, study, experiment, question, and
join in the activities taking place. Journey Within houses an extensive library
and herbal apothecary with over 350 herbs from around the world. Additionally,
there are over 75 herbs growing on and near by the property. There will be textual,
online PPand experiential assignments to complete between sessions to enhance
and reinforce learning. This comprehensive program
offers an East/West perspective on the healing power of herbs and whole
foods. Herbal and food properties and energetics will be covered.This includes
presentations on related diagnostic systems as well as herbal history, herbs for
acute and chronic conditions, herbal first aid, herbs for women and men, herbs
for children and animals and herbs for cleansing, tonification, and health. This
herbal series includes both didactic material and related experiential activities.
Participants will gain firsthand knowledge of herbs in three seasons of growth.
We will visit and work in gardens, fields, woods, and bogs. We will plant, identify,
watch growth, wildcraft, harvest, dry, store and process many local herbs.
Participants will learn the art of: - selecting and combining
herbs for teas and other uses
- selecting and preparing herbs
and whole foods
- understanding and making flower essences
- understanding
& using essential oils and homeopathic remedies
- creating
salves , oils, and other health and beauty aids
- preparing
extracts, poultices, capsules, first aid kits
- and many other
spontaniously inspired creations.
- The gamut is limitless
and participants will be encouraged to
have fun, experiment and use their
imaginations. Knowledge
and experience learned in this training program will last a lifetime, empower
you, and open you to new opportunities and ways of envisioning and rejoicing in
life.
